Saving Energy and Reducing Environmental Impacts: Two Seaport Village Restaurants Step Up to the Challenge

on .

asaggio_picThe Greek Islands Café and Asaggio Pizza Pasta Plus are two restaurants located in Seaport Village that have been working hard to make sustainable improvements.

Owner Melissa Moore writes:

“Cost is a big factor…. What really helped for us is finding out about all the resources available such as SDG&E’s rebate and incentive programs. Our employees and our regular customers really love that I have taken this on. I have gotten great responses to participating in the Challenge. So far the lighting improvements have helped us save money, and the SDG&E rebate programs have helped to offset some of the cost!”

Between the two restaurants, there are 45 light bulbs. Moore has replaced all of the old bulbs with CFL lighting. She has also been looking into replacing service items such as styrofoam takeout containers for biodegradable alternatives.

Not only is Moore looking to save money, she is concerned about the environment and she wants to do what she can to minimize the restaurants’ environmental impact.
